Looking for design inspiration for a new look in your home? With countless home improvement shows, apps, websites, magazines, and Pinterest, the process of getting started with design inspiration is daunting. That’s why I put together a simple list of 5 Instagram accounts for design know-how. Of course, you may find yourself going down the rabbit hole and spinning off into other accounts that inspire you but here is a great place to start.

4.3 Million followers swipe to the @d.signers account for inspiration from across the world. As a page that includes artwork, interior design, and architecture there is a wide array of inspiration to be had. Top that off with a comprehensive blog and website that is rich with content and videos, this magazine turned Instagram account is a reliable source to find ideas on developing a color palette or finding new products.
3. studiomcgee
I found this account thanks to my wife flipping through Netflix and clicking on the show Dream Home Makeover. After watching a few episodes I dug a little bit deeper and found Syd and Shea McGee’s Instagram account. Light colors and gentle textures are a common theme in their design and reflects the style that is in right now. If you find yourself following @studiomcgee, do yourself a favor and click on to your Netflix account and check out their show. Not only does it have some good design inspiration, it has some wholesome entertainment value to it.
4. interiordesignmag
For those readers out there that aren’t all that wild about the white and airy vibe, check out @interiordesignmag‘s account for some variety in design features. This account features a wide array of different styles and color palettes that may find a broader audience than some of the above-mentioned accounts. As a magazine-based account, posts will link to more in-depth articles and interesting pieces about topics ranging from the restoration of historic buildings to international attractions. Take what you will from this account, I won’t blame you if take some of the influences and work them into your next project.
5. houzz
If you haven’t heard about the interior design website, www.houzz.com, I am glad to be the one to introduce you to it. The website features the ability to filter out styles that are custom fit to your preferences, much like searching for a specific product on a website. Conveniently, your search will produce images that feature tags, click on the tag and the product information will pop up. Find a product you like and just like that you are able to purchase the product right from the site. @houzz is also a great way to find styles and products that you will want in your next project.
While this list might be only 5 accounts deep, don’t write off the amount of content that these accounts bring to the table. With tens of thousands of posts and websites filled with products and articles, a person could easily lose themselves in just these five accounts. If you’re anything like me, you might start out casually browsing one post about a master bath remodel and an hour later find yourself looking at a remodel of a 10,000 square feet casita in Madrid. How does that happen? Every time…
